Gareth Bale moves to Los Angeles FC

After nine years in Spain playing for Real Madrid he was free to move to another club this summer.

At the age of 32 he probably has a few good years left in him and the only thing worth considering would be how much money he would want after many years at Real Madrid

Now for some reason his contribution to Real Madrid an overall seems to be diminished, which I do not understand.

Lets look at his Real Madrid trophy haul

Real Madrid

  • La Liga: 2016–17,2019–20, 2021–22
  • Copa del Rey: 2013–14
  • Supercopa de España: 2017
  • UEFA Champions League: 2013–14, 2015–16, 2016–17, 2017–18, 2021–22
  • UEFA Super Cup: 2014,2016,2017
  • FIFA Club World Cup: 2014, 2017, 2018

When you factor in major contributions in 2 of those Champions league finals and a worldy of a goal in a Copa del Rey final against Barcelona then I think this speaks for itself.

Alongside that with 106 caps for Wales and 39 goals he is a talisman for the country and helped them secure their place in the World Cup 2022 finals with a play off win against Ukraine.

This is his appearances and goal contribution by club

Club Season League National Cup League Cup Europe Others Totals
Apps Goals Apps Goals Apps Goals Apps Goals Apps Goals Apps Goals
Southampton Total 40 5 1 0 3 0 1 0 45 5
Tottenham Hotspur Total 146 42 16 3 10 2 31 8 203 55
Real Madrid Total 176 81 13 3 57 16 12 6 258 106

Career total 382 139 32 7 15 3 98 27 13 6 540 182

So a good move for the player and at 32 a decent age for the MLS and with a large social media presence and being an identifiable name in the sport I’m sure the owners of LAFC have that in mind as well.
