Virtua Striker is a series of association football sports video games released by Sega for arcades.
Virtua Striker 3 for the GameCube was only one of 2 games made for home consoles. Virtua Striker 3 was named Virtua Striker 2002 in the US version
Sega were unable to obtain an official license from FIFA, so no real names in this one, but the game did feature 64 teams from countries around the world, with 22 players for each team. Game modes include Road to World Cup, Tournament and Versus.
Road to World Cup allows you to select from the 64 teams, you can edit their names, stats, uniforms and more before competing for the World Cup. The road is long, however, as you must use your available points (equivalent to money) to schedule matches with other international teams, purchase venues, pay for travel expenses for out of town tours and training camps, and more importantly, pay for your players and coaching staff.
The other modes allow you to join in an arcade football match. You choose the team and a CPU opponent, then play for the points in tournament, or pride in versus and practice modes.
In Virtua Striker 3 there is an unlockable team called FC Sonic. This team is made up of Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Dr. Eggman , four Neutral Chao, a Dark Chao, and a Hero Chao, and has Sonic’s creator, Yuji Naka, as manager.
