Players

Marko Grujic

He was immediately loaned back to Red Star until the end of the season for a fee of £740,000, and won the SuperLiga with Red Star while on loan.

On 17 January 2018, Grujić joined Championship side Cardiff City on loan for the remainder of the 2017–18 season.

He then went on Loan to Hertha BSC with a reported loan fee of £2 million

On 19 August 2018, Grujić joined Bundesliga club Hertha BSC on a one-year loan. On 1 July 2019, his loan deal was extended for a second season, with a reported loan fee of £2 million.

On 6 October 2020, Grujić joined Portuguese club Porto on a season-long loan and the sold for a transfer worth £10,5 million with a 10% sell-on clause

So he only played 8 games for Liverpool but they raked in 13 million in return for 5 million – not a success but made money

Steven Caulker

Caulker’s loan with Southampton was cancelled on 12 January 2016 to allow him to join fellow Premier League club Liverpool on loan until the end of the season

He played 3 times on loan from QPR. Wasn’t a lot of point to this signing really.

Kamil Grabara

He played on loan at AGF twice and Huddersfiled before being signed by Copenhagen. He was at Liverpool for 5 years.

Another player who was not a success at liverpool

Sadio Mané

Now we are talking and Liverpool can thank the scouts at Southampton – not for the first time.

He was a prolific goalscorer at Liverpool , netting 90 times in 196 appearances as part of their front line.

With Liverpool he managed to win 6 trophies including the big ones – Premier League and the Champions League

He has just been sold for a potential £35 million, so Liverpool have made a profit on a player they had from 2016 to 2022 and contributed so much to their rise. Don’t see how this can be argued as not a major success.

Loris Karius

He played 29 times for LIverpool and was confirmed the number 1 goalie .ahead of Simon Mignolet.

He had a few dodgy performances in the champions league run in the 2018 season, including against Man City and Roma but it was the final against Real Madrid where he was seemingly at fault for 2 goals.

He received online threats but when analysed it was found that he way been suffering from concussion in the final. The signing of Alisson effectively ended his chances of being 1st choice at Liverpool

Went out on loan to Besiktas and then Union Berlin and currently has no club.

Joël Matip

He signed on a free from Schalke 04

In 7 seasons he has only managed 126 league appearances with 8 goals. This is the only problem with the player has has been unlucky with injuries only playing 19 times in 2 seasons before bouncing with 31 appearances in 21-22

Hard to argue he hasn’t been a worthwhile signing, he was a free

Ragnar Klavan

He is a left-footed centre back, he has also played as a left back during his career.  He is from Estonia – just for all the people who have read this and went – who?

He played 39 times for Liverpool over 2 seasons and scored 1 goal becoming the first Estonian player to score in the Premier League

On 17 August 2018, Klavan signed a two-year contract with Italian club Cagliari for a fee of £2 million. Hard to argue, 4 million out, 2 million in – nothing exceptional

Alex Manninger

A goalie who was more famous for being at Arsenal for a few years – not playing very often there either.

During July 2016, Manninger trained with Liverpool to maintain match fitness and on 22 July 2016, he signed a short-term contract with the Merseyside club.

On 25 May 2017, he announced his retirement from football at the end of his contract. Didn’t even knew he was at Liverpool – that will be why.

Georginio Wijnaldum

He was signed from Newcastle after a great first season there

He played 5 seasons for Liverpool playing 179 times and scoring 16 in the league

With Liverpool he managed to win 4 trophies including the big ones – Premier League and the Champions League

On 7 June 2021, Wijnaldum signed a three-year contract with PSG playing 31 times, he never really hit it off and has been loaned to AS Roma

Mohamed Salah

Now if we are talking legends – this is probably one of the players who will get the title.

He has been at Liverppol for 5 seasons and has scored 118 goals in 180 games.

There is no doubt that he has been one of the main reasons for Liverpool challenging for trophies under Klopp.

When he plays Salah is best known for his speed, dribbling ability and finishing – many of the best goals in the last few seasons have been solo runs with curling finishes.

He signed a new deal and will be at Liverpool for longer – key to them he can win games on hos own.
