Gaming – a look at Kopanito All-Stars Soccer for the PC

If your are like me you will have many hours fun playing games like Sensible Soccer, Nintendo World Cup, early Fifa games and the ISS series. Sure FIFA is the number 1 game at the moment but sometimes you hark back to the time where there were no money grabbing and genuine attempts to make fun, football games

This is why I venture back to retro games via emulation on the regular – you can see that on the youtube channel

Lets look at Kopanito All-Stars Soccer which is a fun little game that I saw when looking at football games on Steam

Graphics

The graphics are of the cartoon nature and work well, adding to the arcadey feel of the game and there are some goal animations – you can even save some of your goals as gifs like this example

Audio

The sound and audio is fairly minimal but that is not necessarily a negative – the same commentary in every football game is not something that bothers me that much

Gameplay

Gameplay is solid and fully responsive whether you use the keyboard or a gamepad, I preferred the latter.

There is a small learning curve but the game does not take too long to get the hang of, you quickly discover the importance of passing, dribbling and tackling. If you play good, you get a ‘super move’

These super moves also compliment the arcadey style – you can pull the ball using a super-strong magnet, teleport into a different spot on the field, activate a big windmaker to blow things out of your way, perform a super-shot that knockout opponents in the way of the ball and freeze your opponents with the freeze super-move.

Also, there is no referee – so you can go in hard, very hard.

There is support for up to 5 controllers – that is 4 gamepads and a keyboard. In fact when the game is played with other people is when it comes into its own even more and playing with your friends is great fun.

Saying that there is plenty for the solo player to do as there is an assortment of competitions to unlock and play through including custom tournaments, practice and friendly matches.

There are four different difficulty levels. The easiest one is well, easy – the hardest, lets just say I tried it one – a while before I try it again

Extra features

Because this is a Steam game there are a ton of achievements to unlock.

There is also an online leaderboard feature to compare with other players

You can play with other players around the world in quick match modes: Duel (1 vs 1), Doubles (2 vs 2), Chaos (3 vs 3), Complete (5 vs 5).

Price

Under £5 from Steam – can’t go wrong
