Luis Suárez joins Nacional of Uruguay on a free

On 26 July 2022, Luis Suárez announced that he had reached a pre-agreement with his boyhood club Nacional ahead of a free transfer to the club. The following day, the deal was officially confirmed.

This is actually his second spell at the club

Suárez joined local side Nacional’s youth team at age 14. In May 2005, Suárez made his first-team debut against Atlético Junior in the Copa Libertadores. He scored his first goal in September 2005 and helped Nacional win the 2005–06 Uruguayan league with 10 goals in 27 matches

Groningen paid Nacional €800,000 for him and this was the first club that he played for in European football

He played 132 times for Uruguay and scored 68 times

A player that has courted controversy throughout his career, there i ssomething quite nice about the fact he signed for Nacional. I still thought he could have done a job for a team in European football for a couple of years
